Party Announcement: “Swing United”

Swing United

We have featured Electro Swing a couple of times here already, and I have to say I have become a big fan of this style. This is a good reason for organizing my first party that is completely dedicated to Swing. Together with my buddies Madame Summit and Mike S.Kreama, I felt that this was a gap in the local music scene in Cologne and we decided to change that.

We will have two dancefloors:

In the club, we will be playing Electro Swing and a little bit of House all night long. This floor is dedicated to club people, and we noticed that this sound resonated quite well with the local crowd.

In the café, we will play classic Swing sounds. While this is probably a style for true connoisseurs, we also would like to invite the Lindy Hop community here. For those who don’t know: Lindy Hop is a dance that originates in the 1920s and 30s and can be described as the classic Swing dance. I was somewhat surprised to learn that this dance is still being kept alive, and it’s mostly younger people who dance Lindy Hop – probably because it’s quite athletic if you take it seriously. There is even a dance school in Cologne called “Hop Spot” that is dedicated to Lindy Hop. Here is an impression of what this can look like:

If any one of you is near Cologne next week, I would be happy to see you there.

Here are the details:

    Hallo, Marvis,
